Alexander Osang

Alexander Osang was born in Berlin in 1962 and studied journalism in Leipzig. After German reunification, he worked first as a business editor and later as chief reporter for the Berliner Zeitung. From 1999 onward, he worked as a reporter for Der Spiegel, including postings in New York and Tel Aviv. His reportage received the Egon Erwin Kisch Prize in 1993, 1999 and 2001, and the Theodor Wolff Prize in 1995; in 2009 he was named “Reporter of the Year.” Osang has published reportage, profiles, fiction and novels. His first novel, Die Nachrichten, appeared in 2000, was adapted for film and received several awards, including the Grimme Award. His other novels include Comeback, Königstorkinder, Lennon ist tot and The Lives of Elena Silber.
