Ales Adamovich (1927–1994) was a Belarusian writer, critic, and literary scholar. Born in the Minsk region, he joined the partisans in 1943. He studied philology in Minsk from 1945 to 1950 and later taught Belarusian literature there and at Moscow State University. He also worked at the Academy of Sciences in Belarus, where he headed the literature department. Adamovich published novels, stories, and screenplays in Russian and Belarusian. He wrote the screenplay for Elem Klimov’s film *Come and See* and was a founding member of the human rights organization Memorial in 1988.
