Alejandra Pizarnik was born in Buenos Aires in 1936 to Ashkenazi Jewish parents and died there in 1972. The Argentine author and translator spent several years in Paris and was a prominent figure in the literary life of Buenos Aires. She translated works by Antonin Artaud, Henri Michaux, and Yves Bonnefoy into Spanish.
