Alberto Manguel

Alberto Manguel, born in Buenos Aires in 1948, grew up in Israel and Argentina and is a Canadian citizen. He has worked as a writer, literary lecturer, translator, critic, editor and librarian. Between 1964 and 1968, he was among the readers for the blind Jorge Luis Borges. Manguel has published novels, essays, nonfiction, plays and anthologies; his books have been translated into numerous languages. His 1996 book A History of Reading received the Prix Médicis in 1998. Manguel is also known for his passion for collecting and reading books.
