Albert Hourani

Albert Hourani (1915–1993) was born in Manchester to Lebanese parents and studied at Oxford. He first taught at the American University of Beirut and, after the Second World War, at St Antony’s College, Oxford. He served as director of the Middle East Centre there. After 1979, he was a visiting professor at the University of Chicago and Harvard University.
