Ahmet Hamdi Tanpinar

Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar (1901–1962) was a Turkish writer and literary scholar. After studying literature, he initially worked as a secondary-school teacher in Erzurum, Konya, Ankara, and Istanbul. He later taught at the Academy of Fine Arts and at Istanbul University, where he was a professor of Turkish language and literature from 1939 until his death. His best-known novels include *Seelenfrieden* and *Das Uhrenstellinstitut*, which was published posthumously in 1962.
