Agnieszka Lessmann grew up in Poland, Israel and Germany and studied German, Italian, and theatre, film and television studies in Cologne. She works as a freelance author and cultural journalist. Since 1991, she has written eight radio plays, including “Cobains Asche” (2004), “Mörder” (2011) and “Einstiegskurs” (2018). “Mörder” was named Radio Play of the Month and nominated for the Hörspielpreis der Kriegsblinden and the Prix Europa. Her first poetry collection, “Fluchtzustand”, was published in 2020. Her poems and short stories have appeared in anthologies and literary journals. Her work has received grants from, among others, the Arts Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Film and Media Foundation NRW and the German Literature Fund.
