I found myself completely immersed in the story and on the edge of my seat whilst reading the book. The Anglophile and history nerd in me also loved that a lady doctor at the hospital was rumoured to have been a rebel and was on the run from the police. Such details make me love a story. All in all I really like the book but had a bit of a wtf moment when the relationship between nurse and volunteer took a turn. To me, that came entirely out of the blue and I didn’t much like it- story-wise.
