Rezension von Mrs MoriartyEs war einfach nicht mein Buch. Obwohl interessante und spannende Ideen dabei waren. Vor allem die Verknüpfung amerikanischer Geister- und Hexenmythen verknüpft mit der Freundschaft, die Eddie und Andrew nie so richtig erkundet haben. Bis Eddie dann stirbt. Trotzdem. Es hat mich Stunden gekostet in der Geschichte voran zu kommen. Immer wenn ich mal doch mehr als ein paar Seiten geschafft hatte, hatte ich trotzdem das Gefühl noch ewig zu brauchen. Es ging und ging einfach nicht richtig voran. Statt die Fragen zu klären, die eigentlich durch Eddies Tod aufgeworfen werden, werden wir ständig mit unnötigen Autorennen oder Nicht-Gesprächen zwischen Andrew und einem der Studenten konfrontiert, die eventuell Verdächtig in Eddies Tod/Ermordung verstrickt sind. Mir fehlte insgesamt vor allem Atmosphäre und Spannung. Echte Intensität zwischen den Charakteren, vor allem nach dem sich eine Art Liebesgeschichte anbahnt. Das wirkte alles zum Teil eher zusammengebastelt und dadurch nicht rund. Ich wollte dann schon wissen, was nun alles dahinter steckte und fand die Lösung plausibel, aber auch ein bisschen langweilig. Ich bin trotzdem ganz froh, den Roman endlich mal gelesen zu haben, da er schon ewig auf meiner Wunschliste stand und ich mich nie durchringen konnte, ihn von dort zu entfernen. Nun weiß ich bescheid. Kein Re-read Kandidat für mich.^^
