Die ersten 50 Seiten fand ich so furchtbar (langweilig), dass ich das Buch erstmal für ein halbes Jahr pausiert habe. Kurz vor dem ersten Perspektivenwechsel nimmt die Geschichte dann Fahrt auf und ab Patricks Tagebucheinträgen, war ich richtig gefangen. Es gibt viel, was ich zu „My Policeman“ und den Figuren zu sagen habe, zu viel für diese Kurzrezension. Aber es ist eine sehr tragische Geschichte, die einen wütend macht und verzweifeln lässt. Die Figuren sind Gefangene der Zeit, in der sie leben und verletzen sich gegenseitig auf furchtbare, aber dennoch irgendwie nachvollziehbare Art. Marion und Patrick werden sehr lebendig, wohingegen Tom immer etwas blass bleibt. Seine Perspektive hätte ich mir an einigen Stellen gewünscht. Insgesamt hat mich der Roman doch mehr mitgenommen als anfangs gedacht und mich vor allem sehr viel fühlen und nachdenken lassen. Ich bin gespannt auf die Verfilmung oder um es mit den Worten von Michael Scott zu sagen: I am ready to get hurt again

Read 3/5 of the book. Started strong but then just lost me. I didn’t really care for any of the characters sadly. The topic is really interesting and relevant but the tragedy and significance of it just didn’t come across.
