That we create and paint and dance and fall in love, that's our rebellion against eternity." Zu malen und zu zeichnen, wie die Vögel singen und ein Lachen erklingt, das die Herzen erfüllt - so ist das Kunstverständnis der Figuren aus Backmans Roman zu beschreiben. Keine bessere Beschreibung fällt mir für die Art und Weise ein, wie Backman diese herzergreifende Geschichte erzählt. Aus der Entstehungsgeschichte eines Kunstwerkes wird eine emotionale und tiefgreifende Geschichte über Freundschaft, Liebe und die Jugend. Dabei ist die eigentliche Geschichte der Figuren tragisch und inhaltlich kaum zu ertragen. Aber durch seinen Schreibstil vermittelt der Autor trotz der ernsten Inhalte so viel Wärme, Hoffnung und Humor, dass das Buch das Herz erwärmt.

Rezension von Daniela WigbelsIch liebe den Schreibstil, aber als Hörbuch hat es mir ein bisschen besser gefallen als als tatsächliches Buch. Gerade in den Rückblicken hat es sich für mich teils sehr gezogen. Hab erst vier Sterne gegeben, aber muss das leider noch mal nach unten korrigieren.
