Reviewed by Carlos R. DiazI really enjoyed reading this novel about love, loss and (musical) lessons learned. Rachel Joyce's book will remind readers of "High Fidelity" (1995) by Nick Hornby. Nevertheless, this narrative is all its own, telling the story of a British record store owner and a German woman with big, black eyes, just like a pair of 45s. Frank loves music and he adores records. His music shop does NOT sell dreaded CDs! One day, he has a meet-cute moment with an enigmatic German girl who faints at his store. The following 300 pages will delight you with a tale of friendship, faith and falls from grace. Quirky characters populate these pages as Frank and Ilse attempt to listen to their hearts and the soundtrack of their lives.
