I honestly didn’t expect to love The Correspondent by Virginia Evans as much as I did. I was surprised by how deeply I became invested in a story whose characters I didn’t necessarily see myself in, yet I found myself feeling so much for the protagonist. There is something truly special about a book that can create that kind of emotional connection. The writing is charming, witty, and often quietly funny, but it is also deeply moving. I was particularly struck by how much emotion, intimacy, and depth can be conveyed through letters alone. There is something beautiful about gradually getting to know someone through their words, and watching a story unfold in such a personal, understated way. A book I enjoyed immensely and one of my favourite reads of the year. The Correspondent is a wonderful reminder that you don’t have to see yourself in a character to feel deeply connected to their story. The novel absolutely deserved its 2026 Women’s Prize for Fiction win.
Tolles Buch!
Einfach nur wow und aua. Mehr kann ich gerade nicht dazu sagen. Hab’s geliebt und kanns nur empfehlen.❤️🩹
Everyone should read it. Life is a marathon but don’t wait until the last kilometers of your life to do the things you promised yourself you’ll do. We are all unexpectedly mortal.
