This was such a strange reading experience for me. I really liked the atmosphere and the whole idea behind the story. There was something beautifully dark and eerie about the carnival and the way it played on people’s fears and desires. Buuuuut I also found the book quite confusing at times. English isn’t my first language and Bradbury’s writing is very poetic, what I do love, and full of metaphors, sooooo there were quite a few moments where I understood every single word but still had absolutely no idea what was going on😂 it really made my brain go 🤯 I think I understood the basic story and what Bradbury was trying to say about aging, fear, youth and accepting yourself but I definitely feel like some of the deeper meaning went over my head. Beautiful, atmospheric and definitely interesting, but also a little too confusing for me to fully connect with 😕 -> Death doesn’t exist. It never did, it never will. But we’ve drawn so many pictures of it, so many years, trying to pin it down, comprehend it, we’ve got to thinking of it as an entity, strangely alive and greedy. All it is, however, is a stopped watch, a loss, an end, a darkness. Nothing. -> For being good is a fearful occupation; men strain at it and sometimes break in two. -> And men do love sin, Will, oh how they love it, never doubt, in all shapes, sizes, colors, and smells.
