Reviewed by DebbieDie Welt von Of Jade and Dragons spielt in einem Mix aus chinesischer Tradition und Steampunk Technik, was ein einzigartiges und faszinierendes Settung hervorbringt. Ich wünschte das Buch hätte zu Beginn eine Karte der Welt enthalten - es hätte super zum Setting und zur Veranschaulichung gepasst. Die Geschichte von Ying liest sich sehr flüssig mit dem richtigen Maß an Spannung. Dennoch waren einige Punkte, wie z. B. die Beziehungen, welche Ying im Verlauf aufbaut, durchaus ausbauwürdig und es fehlte mir oft an Details. Trotz einiger dieser Makel fand ich großen Gefallen an dem Buch und verschlang es regelrecht. Bin sehr gespannt auf Teil 2!
Reviewed by kathireadsOf Jade and Dragons ist echt frischer Wind in der Fantasywelt und hat mich von Anfang bis Ende gefesselt! Die Protagonistin ist stark, clever aber trotzdem menschlich, was es leicht macht, sich mit ihr zu identifizieren und ihre Entwicklung zu verfolgen. Besonders toll fand ich die Slowburn Romanze, die sich über das Buch hinweg aufbaut und unglaublich viel Tension erzeugt. Ich habe so mitgefiebert 😭. Es gab so manche Entwicklung und Quotes bei denen ich gigglend und luftschnappend an den Seiten geklebt habe 🫠 Der Love Interest bleibt bis zum Ende schwer einzuschätzen, was ihn besonders spannend macht - eben typisch moralisch grau, was wir ja bekanntlich lieben 😏 Auch den restliche Plot fand ich toll. Besonders der Twist bei den Trials, die weniger auf Kämpfen um Leben und Tod basieren, sondern auf eine Ingenieurausbildung ausgelegt sind. Anstatt an vorderster Front zu kämpfen, haben wir es mit den Köpfen hinter dem Krieg zu tun, was insgesamt zwar für einen weniger actionpacked Plot sorgt, aber trotzdem so interessant war 😍! Die Nebenfiguren sind ebenfalls großartig und bilden eine kleine Found Family, die dem Buch viel Herz verleiht. Der Schreibstil ist flüssig und leicht zu lesen, sodass die Seiten nur so dahin fliegen. Das Ende war überraschend brutal und schockierend, aber so gut gemacht, dass ich Band zwei kaum erwarten kann. Der spielt zwei Jahre später und scheint neue POVs von den tollen Nebenfiguren zu enthalten 🥰. Insgesamt ist Of Jade and Dragons eine gelungene Mischung aus Fantasy, Romantik und Spannung, die definitiv Lust auf mehr macht.
