Private eye Sharon McCone takes on a case for Willie Whelan, a vendor at the local San Francisco flea market-not to mention his moon lighting job as a fence. She's checing up on a silent man in dark clothes and a yarmulke who has been hanging around Willie's stall. Sharon soon learns that the man is one Jerry Levin who claims to work for a group that recovers stolen Torahs. Shortly after, Sharon finds Levin in Willies's garage-dead.
