Das berühmteste Buch deutscher Sprache, die 'Kinder- und Hausmärchen' der Brüder Grimm, entstand in einem langen Prozess über mehrere Jahrzehnte und existiert in sehr unterschiedlichen Fassungen. Diese Ausgabe bietet als einzige auf dem Buchmarkt die Urfassung nach der Handschrift von 1810, einen Grundbestand von 63 Märchen, noch etwas unbehauen und rohdiamanten, ohne die spätere künstlerische Ausgestaltung.
