its not a bad book. not even at all. naoise dolan has an mesmerizing writing stil. but the casual racism? it reminded me that this book is written by an white woman after all.

i don’t think i’ve ever related more to a protagonist than with this book. the amount of times i wanted to scream “that’s me”! i felt very seen. this book very much reflects how many of us are feeling in our early to mid twenties and how flawed we all are. ava is the asshole most of the time, but so is everyone else. i also don’t think i’ve ever annotated a book quite as much as this one.
