Reviewed by Carlos R. DiazTransgressive author Chuck Palahniuk has a way of getting under your skin. He is, after all, the writer who penned "Fight Club," that glorious book about male masculinity. In this novel, Palahniuk tackles the themes of sex and consumerism in this biting satire. There's a cute plain Jane who becomes the object of Cornelius Linus Maxwell's affection. He is a billionaire and he produces a line of, ahem, sex toys in a thriving industry that makes women stay home for days, weeks and months playing with their, ahem, playthings. A bunch of weird Palahniuk-approved things happen here. It was a good novel, but also a one-and-done. That is all.
