Reviewed by ChiaraAhhh ich hab schon wieder ein Buch nicht zu Ende gelesen. Mega schade, obwohl es echt so gut angefangen hat. Ich hab es eigentlich echt genossen, mal einen historischen Roman über das Gilded Age in New York zu lesen. Besonders aus der Perspektive von Alva, die als selbstbewusste, witzige, schlagfertige und intelligente Frau vorgestellt wurde, und auf dessen Geschichte ich mich sehr gefreut habe. Doch kurz nach der Hochzeit von Willian und ihr wurde das Buch suuuuper träge und es wurde total unemotional erzählt. Sogar Geburten, Tod oder Intrigen habe ich fast überlesen, einfach weil sie so unbedeutend und langweilig erzählt wurden. Dieser Roman hat sich ab der Hälfte so krass gezogen, dass ich einfach aufhören musste. Generell wäre auch ein Stammbaum oder Charakterübersicht der Vanderbilts sehr hilfreich gewesen, weil es echt so viele Personen gab, die ich durcheinander gebracht habe, weshalb ich noch weniger in die Story reingekommen bin. Trotzdem bin ich froh das Buch begonnen zu haben, da ich echt viele intensive Einblicke in das „goldene Zeitalter“ bekommen habe und dadurch viel neues gelernt habe.
Reviewed by Janelle EdwardsA Well-Behaved Woman is about Alva Vanderbilt. She is a strong, determined woman who was ahead for her time. Alva was not afraid to tell the men how it should be done. While I think some of the story was drawn out, this is still a fascinating read.
