wuthering heights was an intriguing experience that i wouldn't just say i liked - it captured my soul! i’ve never read anything better in my life! getting to know the second bronte sister completely blew me away; at times it tore me to pieces and put me back together again, but in the end, it brought me peace and a tranquil, just & undeniably happy ending for all the characters :3

There’s a lot you can say about this book. I find the way it’s told interesting because we never really find out what the characters are thinking. I also find it interesting how the characters are portrayed, that there isn’t a ‘good’ character. That there are reasons for their actions. Still, I think Heathcliff is someone you can’t forgive. Personally, I don’t like him, and I don’t like Catherine either but they are interesting as characters. The family relationships are… interesting, because everyone is somehow related, but I guess that’s not something you’re supposed to question too much? I liked the second volume more, even though I can’t really say why. An interesting book with an interesting approach and definitely interesting characters.

Alles in allem: Ein solides, interessantes Buch, was sehr herzzerbrechend ist.

Wuthering Heights is not a love story. It’s a destructive storm. It’s about two souls. They are not gentle. They do not save one another. They burn, and in burning, they scar everyone around them. It‘s not love - it’s obsession, pride, revenge. Bonded by trauma. Some connections do not make us better. They destroy us. Brontë was not writing a polite love story. She was dissecting obsession, identity, and the destructive cost of denying one’s inner truth. Catherine’s death is the logical conclusion of a personality that experiences love not as attachment, but as ontological necessity - as necessary as oxygen. She understood something brutal and timeless: the most dangerous prison is the life you build against your own nature.
