Rezension von VorleserNeeded longer for this novel than usual because I couldn’t stand the protagonist’s pathetic nature for 500 pages. It’s an entertaining farce about the British colonial society in the sixties. I’d give half a star more but I couldn’t get my head around the ending although it suits the characters altogether. Boyd is a fabulous spectator of all forms of human disgrace and pitifulness which makes him painfully entertaining. Happy to got through this cabinet of embarrassment that felt sometimes more than second hand to me.
