Habe mir mehr erwartet Das Cover des Buches hat mich sofort angesprochen, wirklich sehr schön gestaltet und ein echter Hingucker. Besonders positiv fand ich auch die Kapitelanfänge mit weißer Schrift auf schwarzen Seiten, das hat mich direkt gecatcht und eine besondere Atmosphäre geschaffen. Leider konnte der Inhalt für mich da nicht ganz mithalten. Ich bin noch relativ neu im Dark-Romance-Genre, daher bin ich vielleicht nicht die beste Referenz, aber mich konnte die Geschichte einfach nicht richtig fesseln. Dabei klang die Grundidee wirklich vielversprechend: eine gebrochene Krankenschwester und ein mysteriöser Insasse, das hat definitiv Potenzial und hat mich auch neugierig gemacht. Umso enttäuschender fand ich die Umsetzung. Mir hat es an Tiefgang gefehlt und ich konnte weder zu den Charakteren noch zu ihrer Entwicklung wirklich Zugang finden, auch wenn spürbar war, dass genau das versucht wurde. Was ich hingegen positiv hervorheben möchte, ist, dass die spicy Szenen eher im Hintergrund geblieben sind. Das finde ich persönlich immer angenehm, da der Fokus so stärker auf der Handlung liegen kann. Trotzdem konnte mich die Geschichte insgesamt nicht überzeugen. Das Ende war dann leider auch noch sehr klischeehaft und ich habe bis zum Epilog gehofft, dass es vielleicht doch noch eine andere Richtung einschlägt aber auch hier wurde ein typisches Muster bedient. Wirklich schade, denn die Idee hatte definitiv mehr Potenzial. Insgesamt vergebe ich daher 3 Sterne vor allem für die gute Grundidee und die gelungene Gestaltung. Bitte unbedingt die Triggerwarnungen beachten!

This book had potential. It gripped me until around 60% but after her husband’s death it just… fell down a cliff and caught on fire. The back and forth with Gracin could be seen as enticing; I found it boring and slightly uncomfortable. I do like morally grey men, but the fact that Tessa is the equivalent of a helpless puppy for half the book just pisses me off. I still give it 3 starts because for most of the book I was invested

I almost dnf. But, I got through it. This is labeled "dark romance." It's dark. It's not what I'd consider "romance." Moreso a case of Stockholm syndrome. Anyway... prison nurse, Tessa, in a terrible marriage with the warden. One day, an inmate is brought to her office. That's when everything changes. This one gets pretty violent. It was a decent story, but really was not believable. There is a long list of trigger warnings, so if you do decide to try this one, be sure to check those. All in all.... meh. I should have read something else.

2,75⭐️ liked the prison-aspect and the twisted way of a toxic man helping her escape her toxic and abusive husband. but nothing special. and as bad as it sound, I don't like the pregnancy trope in any way, so i was almost dnf'ing but then stuff happened and i gave it until the end to convince me again, and it kinda did, but yeah.

2.5-3⭐️ Fast paced storyline. A page turner story. If you want a short dark romance with a lot of turns in the story, this book is for you. I like the idea of the story but sometimes it was turn after turn. It is a good book don’t get me wrong but the execution of the story wasn’t that amazing. I still would recommend it. I read it in under 24 hours.❤️❤️
