Rezension von LiziInteresting perspective of a famous story. The book made me look up the story one more time. However, it felt like it was “forced”: as if it HAD TO BE so detailed. In a nutshell, it was easy to read and inspiring.

Rezension von Caroll-Ann📖 The Song Of Achilles by Madeline Miller ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4,5 stars Another one of Madeline Miller’s books that I absolutely devoured. Her writing style is so unique and captivating, and she has an incredible ability to transport me straight into the story and the world of Greek mythology. This novel follows Prince Patroclus and Prince Achilles and tells a story of friendship, war, love, and sacrifice. I have to admit that the beginning felt a little slow, as not much seemed to happen at first. However, everything changed around the 30–40% mark, and from then on I was completely invested. Patroclus was by far my favorite character, and I loved watching his growth throughout the story. While I initially liked Achilles as well, my feelings toward him changed significantly as the book progressed. By the end, I found it difficult to sympathize with him at all. As always, Madeline Miller’s writing is absolutely beautiful. Her storytelling is immersive, emotional, and unforgettable. I would highly recommend her books to anyone who enjoys mythology, historical fiction, or simply exceptional writing.
Rezension von BellaA story that is portrait as an act of heroism, yet is anything but that. The grief, the joy, the love, the moments of shame and hatred and everything that sits in between. The way Patroclus speaks of Achilles but how we never see him through anyone else’s eyes, never truly see who he is and yet, despite this, feel so much more for him. I find that it highlights, in a truly unique way, just how tragic this story is specifically in the manner in which Patroclus is forgotten; how, in the end, it is only the goddess who loathed him who grants him what he deserves and he deserves so much more. The gods are cruel, and this story is the very peak of that cruelty. Love amidst hatred and war. Love persisting, changing, while everything else dies, while everything else becomes insignificant. This story, this book, shwos the pain of that love, of that war, and of that friendship, in a way that breaks the heart the same way that it broke Achilles.
