📖 The Song Of Achilles by Madeline Miller ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4,5 stars Another one of Madeline Miller’s books that I absolutely devoured. Her writing style is so unique and captivating, and she has an incredible ability to transport me straight into the story and the world of Greek mythology. This novel follows Prince Patroclus and Prince Achilles and tells a story of friendship, war, love, and sacrifice. I have to admit that the beginning felt a little slow, as not much seemed to happen at first. However, everything changed around the 30–40% mark, and from then on I was completely invested. Patroclus was by far my favorite character, and I loved watching his growth throughout the story. While I initially liked Achilles as well, my feelings toward him changed significantly as the book progressed. By the end, I found it difficult to sympathize with him at all. As always, Madeline Miller’s writing is absolutely beautiful. Her storytelling is immersive, emotional, and unforgettable. I would highly recommend her books to anyone who enjoys mythology, historical fiction, or simply exceptional writing.

Eine sehr schöne Geschichte 🏛️

this is not fun if you can’t memorise Greek names

Empezamos fuerte con las lecturas de este año. La verdad no esperaba que me gustara tanto este libro, no esperaba que fuera tan bueno tampoco. Se nota mucho que la autora conoce bien tanto la Ilíada como la Odisea y eso se agradece. Me atrevo a decir que en un futuro, este libro podría tener el mismo impacto que la Divina Comedia (en el sentido de que la gente puede considerar absolutamente todo real). No deja de ser un relato épico, pero es la epopeya de un amor que sobrevivió a pesar del tiempo. La manera en que se plasma la ambigüedad en el carácter de Aquiles y Odiseo también es un plus. Cuando leí la Iliada y posteriormente las Troyanas, pensé que ambos héroes eran sumamente crueles, sin embargo, Odiseo me era más afín que Aquiles por razones distintas. Leer esto me dio otra perspectiva. No es un libro perfecto, hay momentos en los que sentía estar leyendo más una historia de romance juvenil que un recuento de una de las historias más épicas e importantes de la historia europea, sin embargo, eso no le quita mérito. La autora, me parece, hizo un trabajo espectacular.
