Rezension von MarmeladeIch habe den Roman auf Empfehlung von meiner Rosine Lea gelesen, die total begeistert von diesem Buch war. Ich weiß nicht, wieso ich es so lange herausgezögert habe, es zu lesen, nachdem sie es mir zu Weihnachten geschenkt hat. Mr. Parnassuses Heim für magisch Begabte (oder wie Lea sagen würde: Mr. Paranuss) ist ein richtiges Wohlfühlbuch. Es eignet sich perfekt für einen Strandurlaub, denn man kann sich schon an kleinen Dingen erfreuen. Ein Geschenk von einem Freund, der an einen gedacht hat oder einfach nur den Genuss von Sonnenschein nach einer langen Regenzeit (auch im übertragenen Sinne). Einen großen Spannungsverlauf gibt es zwar nicht in dem Roman, doch er spiegelt das Leben wieder, wenn man die magischen Fähigkeiten außer Acht lässt. Besonders beschäftigt sich das Buch mit Diskriminierung und wie man damit umgeht. Mr. Parnassus lehrt die Kinder des Weisenhauses ihr Selbstvertrauen zu stärken. Linus als Erzähler und Angestellter der Behörde zur Betreuung magischer Minderjähriger hat einen einseitigen Blick auf die Welt. Zwar wollte er immer schon das Meer sehen, doch führt er ein Leben, dass mehr dem Überleben dient. Einsam und Überarbeitet wird er aus seiner grauen Welt in ein buntes Paradies geschickt und erkennt zunächst widerwillig, was sein Leben in der Stadt und seine Arbeit ihm nicht geben kann.
Rezension von SofiaIt is undeniable that Klune has a talent for creating charming and whimsical characters. I was immediately attached to Linus and these magical children with Chauncey being my obvious favorite. Reading this story felt like watching a Disney movie in the best way possible. It was funny and comfy and at times very sad. However, midway through the book the numerous life lessons and pinterest quote-y speeches became too extensive for me. I get that Mr. Pernassus is supposed to be an educational figure. Still I wish that those messages were sometimes packaged in a more subtler way and less in your face. It took away their power and genuineness at least in my opinion. On a positive note, the cast of characters was diverse and I can still recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a sweet story that feels like a magical Disney movie.

Rezension von Angie <3I loved this book. I enjoyed the author’s writing style and the humor throughout the story. I think it’s "simply perfect", and the story is so adorable. The characters and their development were wonderful. It’s about found family and rising above oneself while leaving prejudice behind. The House in the Cerulean Sea was heart-swelling and now holds a special place in my heart. <3
