Rezension von Hannah Das erste fünf Sterne Buch für dieses Jahr!! „The Goldfinch“ war für mich nicht nur wegen des Schreibstils ein absolutes Highlight, sondern auch wegen der Charaktere und angesprochenen Themen. Theo als Protagonist ist unfassbar spannend. Er verliert mit 13 Jahren bei einer Katastrophe seine Mutter und dieser eine Tag verändert auf einen Schlag sein ganzes Leben. Das Thema von Verlust zieht sich durch Theos ganzes Leben, in verschiedenen Formen und Ausprägungen und hat der ganzen Geschichte Emotionalität verliehen. Auch das Thema der Freundschaft, vor allem zwischen Boris und Theo, aber auch zu Pippa, Hobie, Kitsy etc. mochte ich in der Umsetzung sehr gern. Vor allem die Verbindung von Theo und Boris hat das Buch für mich zu etwas ganz besonderem gemacht. Ich liebe es bei Büchern sehr gern, wenn man die Protagonisten über einen langen Zeitraum begleitet und jede Entwicklung miterlebt und genau das bekommt man bei dem Buch. Und weil es nicht fehlen darf: die Bedeutung des Kunstwerks für Theo war vor allem wegen seiner Symbolik so spannend, die auf den Anfang zurückzuführen ist und für mich auch viele Parallelen zu Theos Beziehung zu Pippa aufweist. Ich kann das Buch auf jeden Fall nur empfehlen und ich denke, dass die Geschichte und ihre Charaktere mir auch noch eine Weile im Kopf bleiben werden.
