Rezension von Cali„The Cloisters“ von Kathy Hays ist eine Geschichte über die Studentin Ann, die unerwartet im Sommer in eine andere Stelle im Met in New York antritt, als eigentlich gedacht. Dabei beinhaltet die Geschichte Plottwists, diverse Arten von zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen und Verrat. Alles in allem war das Buch nicht schlecht. Der Schreibstil hat eine klare Struktur, übermittelt die Stimmung deutlich und gibt Einsicht in das Innenleben von Ann. Leider waren die Plottwists eher mäßig vorbereitet und schienen zum Teil eher für den Schockfaktor aus der Luft gegriffen zu sein. Viel von der Anziehung des Buches ging von der Atmosphäre aus, die es auch sehr gut genährt hat. Insgesamt lebt das Buch mehr von der Atmosphäre der Geschichte als von der Geschichte selbst. Dadurch ist es aber gerade für heiße Sommertage eine interessante Art, Zeit zu verbringen.
