A boy has lived his whole life trapped within a vast library, older than empires and larger than cities.A girl has spent hers in a tiny settlement out on the Dust where nightmares stalk and no one goes. The world has never even noticed them. That's about to change.Their stories spiral around each other, across worlds and time. This is a tale of truth and lies and hearts, and the blurring of one into another. A journey on which knowledge erodes certainty, and on which, though the pen may be mightier than the sword, blood will be spilled and cities burned.

This book really surprised me. Normally when I like books as much as I did this book I tend to get through very fast and don't take my time with them. But this book was different. I first started listening to the audiobook version of this book, but at about the half point I switched to text version because I suddenly had the feeling, I was missing essential information. And i also wanted to consume the book like a good wine: sip by sip. Also, I don't know why but I was expecting a very different story, but in the end what I got far exceeded my expectations and at many points even ran circles around it. The books that so profoundly moved are very few and rare. But this one sucked me in right from the start. Yes, the world building, the characters (especially Livira and Malar) and writing was awesome from start to end. But what really connected to me was the idea of how perspective can change so much of your perception of things that ran through the whole book. This idea seems so important nowadays and I loved how the characters approached it in the book. And I also liked that the characters were willing to accept the new situations and work with it. In my opinion that is very rare to see that with characters in books. I hope this stays also true with the future books in this trilogy. Let me sum it up: This book made me tear up so many times and I was so invested I was sad when it was over. I hope the next book will come out soon! Really looking forward to it!
