Rezension von SandyStarling House hat mich mit seiner Idee und dem ansprechenden Cover zunächst sehr neugierig gemacht, konnte meine Erwartungen jedoch nicht erfüllen. Der Einstieg ist äußerst zäh, der Lesefluss wird durch Fußnoten und verwirrende Erzählelemente gebremst, und auch später fehlte mir oft die Spannung. Positiv hervorzuheben ist die düstere, geheimnisvolle Atmosphäre, die niemals erdrückend wirkt. Die Protagonistin Opal ist zwar ungewöhnlich und interessant angelegt, blieb für mich emotional jedoch auf Distanz, ebenso wie die für mich unnötige Liebesgeschichte. Insgesamt ist das Buch sicher etwas für Fans ruhiger, mysteriöser Smalltown-Geschichten, für mich persönlich jedoch kein Titel, den ich weiterempfehlen würde.
Rezension von Agostina.4.5⭐ Oh, this story moved me in so many ways. Complex characters, found family, romance, mystery, magic... it has everything! I had such a great time reading it. The only things keeping me from giving it 5 stars are a) that the corporate witch deserve a nasty ending and she's kinda just not mentioned anymore, which was disappointing, and b) the epilogue, while on brand, left me wanting more! I wish it wasn't told as a story; I wanted the actual scenes.

Rezension von SasDas Buch hat mir wirklich viel Spaß gemacht. Ein geheimnisvolles Haus, interessante und sympatische Charaktere, eine gute Geschichte, ein bisschen Fantasy, ein bisschen Mystery, ein Hauch Grusel. Insgesamt eine gute Mischung und abwechslungsreiche Unterhaltung.
