Rezension von JuliaR & J ist keine Liebesgeschichte. Musste mal gesagt werden. Es ist mehr eine Tragödie die aus Naivität, Hass und Impulsivität entsteht. Die Darstellung von absoluter Liebe und Obsession wird dabei stark idealisiert. Die beiden Protagonisten sind sehr jung, was maßgeblich zur Entwicklung der Tragödie beiträgt. Romeo der impulsive, realitätsferne Träumer ist meiner Meinung nach der Hauptgrund für den Tod beider am Ende. Während Julia, geprägt von den Erwartungen ihrer Zeit, schnell an ihm festhält und ihn teilweise idealisiert. Klar mit 14 weiß sie nicht was sie tut. Zum Teil stellt sie Romeo auf ein Podest auf das er ganz und gar nicht gehört, weil sie es einfach nicht besser weiß. Beide treffen Entscheidungen, deren Konsequenzen sie kaum überblicken können. Auch das von Hass geprägte Umfeld spielt eine wichtige Rolle, ist aber meiner Meinung nach nicht allein verantwortlich für das tragische Ende, auch wenn es oft so dargestellt wird. Trotz meiner Kritik muss ich sagen, dass mir der sprachliche Stil des Werkes gefällt. Die Sprache ist stellenweise fast lyrisch und verstärkt die emotionale Wirkung des Textes.
Rezension von HelenAre they two lowkey dumb teenagers who are indirectly (and directly) responsible for the deaths of several people… and then die themselves? Yes. Do I love it anyway? Also yes. This was a reread for me, and while Romeo and Juliet isn’t my absolute favorite Shakespeare play, let’s be real—I love everything that man ever wrote. The drama! The language! The wildly avoidable tragedy! Chef’s kiss. So yes, once again, I was fully entertained by the chaos. I mean, could this all have been prevented with one honest conversation and maybe a group therapy session? Absolutely. But tragic endings are my weakness, so I ate it up anyway.💀💔
