Rezension von JoanneThis was my first science fiction read. I found the first half of the book particularly exciting, although I sometimes had difficulty understanding Darrow's thoughts. In the second half the story felt rushed to me and the challenges were overcome too easily for my liking. Overall, the book leaves me with a few questions. I can't quite tell yet if that was the author's intention or if I just didn't understand it. I'm looking forward to the second part. 3,5 ⭐️ Also: first book club read! Yay!
Rezension von SvenExtrem fast paced One Vs all Setting mit zwar wenig Romance aber Liebe als Big Motivator für Alles. Starkes Worldbuilding, geile Charactere und harte moralische Fragen und Umgang mit Verlust, Rache, Liebe und Verrat. Am Anfang etwas Hunger Games Vibes mit ner Prise Fantasy und Scifi aber irgendwie ganz eigen. Noch nie vorher so gefesselt gewesen und einen so stark geschriebenen MC gelesen.
Rezension von Skyllen„Red Rising“ war so phänomenal, dass ich es gar nicht in Worte fassen kann. Um es mal zu beschreiben: Es ist wie „Die Tribute von Panem“ trifft auf „Percy Jackson“, nur auf dem Mars. Aber das würde dem Buch nicht gerecht werden. Ich bin ein riesiger „Die Tribute von Panem“-Fan und habe einige Parallelen erkannt, wie den Gesang, die Fernsehpropaganda und noch einiges mehr, was ich aus Spoilergründen nicht erwähnen möchte. Pierce Brown hat eine einzigartige Welt mit verschiedenen Kasten in Form von Farben erschaffen, in der die Goldkaste herrscht und alle anderen sich unterwerfen müssen. Was dystopische Romane angeht, hat mir besonders die Kritik gefallen, die der Autor uns aus Darrows Perspektive vermittelt hat. Er ist ein Meister des Schreibens, er legt Wert auf jedes einzelne Wort, und jedes einzelne zählt. Nichts wirkt zufällig. Das respektiere ich sehr, denn das ist für mich als Autor die größte Herausforderung. Browns Schreibstil ist inspirierend und so einzigartig – ich habe noch nie etwas Vergleichbares gelesen. Kurz, manchmal fast emotionslos und auf den Punkt gebracht. Bravo! Ich hätte nicht erwartet, dass es mir so gut gefallen würde! Darrow wirkt manchmal etwas übermächtig. Das wäre mein einziger Kritikpunkt. Er scheint intelligenter und fähiger als die meisten seiner Altersgenossen, die ihr ganzes Leben lang Gold waren. Ich verstehe, dass er als Roter Härten erfahren hat, aber manchmal fand ich es unrealistisch. Nicht, dass es mich groß stört, ich habe einfach jede Seite dieses Buches geliebt. Es hat mich zum Lachen gebracht, aber größtenteils hat es mich den Tränen nahegebracht, vor Wut erzittern lassen und mich sehr zum Nachdenken angeregt. „Red Rising“ ist kein Buch, das man nur überfliegt, sondern eines, das man aufnimmt, aus dem man lernt und an dem man wächst. Und das meine ich ernst. Die ersten 50 Seiten haben mich angesichts des Grauens und der Grausamkeit des Ganzen sprachlos gemacht. Lest dieses Buch mit Vorsicht. Ein Aspekt, der mich so beeindruckt hat, war sein ernster Ton. Es ist kein typischer Jugend-Dystopie-Roman, wie er heutzutage manchmal vermarktet wird. Vergewaltigung wird mehrmals erwähnt. Dystopische Bücher enttäuschen mich heutzutage oft. Zu viel Romantik, ein mangelhafter Weltenbau und meist keine oder nur unzureichende Gesellschaftskritik. Nicht hier, nicht in „Red Rising“. Endlich ein Buch, das den Vergleich mit „Die Tribute von Panem“ auch nur ansatzweise verdient.
Rezension von Liyah📚5/5⭐️ this was just great. What the actual fuck?! Sometimes I forget how great dystopian books can be istg. 1. World building as far as I’m following I love it 2. The fact that the first 20% of the book felt like a whole book on their own in the best way possible??? 3. EO?! LITERALLY EVERYTHING ABOUT HER AND HOW STUFF HAPPENED. I normally don’t get shocked while reading books, they tend to be at least a tiny bit predictable. Enough for me to figure some of the plot points out before they happened. This book had me on the edge of my seat so many times. Gasping and staring in disbelief and I really did not know half of the turns this would take. (I might have to add here I generally had no idea what this was about besides the fact that it’s a dystopian novel.) Darrow is also such a great MMC especially because I haven’t read many books in which the main character is a guy. Loved it tho. Very well written too. CHARACTER DYNAMICS AND GERNAL DYNAMICS WITHIN THE COLORS ESPECIALLY FOR DARROW WAS PEAK WRITING TOO I LOVE. Sevros was everything to me as well as Pex love them. And Mustang also but I knew I’d like her the second she got introduced. It better stay that way for the next few books!
