So good, very powerful. Relevant as hell!

Die rote Königin von Victoria Aveyard entfaltet eine düstere Fantasywelt, in der soziale Ungleichheit nicht nur politisch, sondern biologisch festgeschrieben ist: Silberblütige herrschen mit übernatürlichen Fähigkeiten über die roten, machtlosen Menschen. Im Zentrum steht Mare Barrow, eine Protagonistin, die weder klassische Heldin noch reine Rebellin ist, sondern vor allem eines: menschlich. Ihre Angst, Wut und inneren Konflikte verleihen der Geschichte emotionale Tiefe und Glaubwürdigkeit. Besonders stark ist Aveyards Darstellung von Machtstrukturen und Manipulation. Der Königshof wird als Ort ständiger Täuschung inszeniert, an dem Loyalität ein fragiles Konstrukt ist und jede Beziehung politisch aufgeladen wirkt. Die Handlung lebt weniger von der Magie selbst als von Intrigen, Verrat und moralischen Dilemmata. Dabei spielt das Thema Identität eine zentrale Rolle: Mare muss sich immer wieder fragen, wer sie ist und wofür sie bereit ist zu kämpfen. Stilistisch ist der Roman klar und flüssig geschrieben, mit hohem Tempo und gezielt eingesetzten Wendungen, die Erwartungen bewusst unterlaufen. Zwar greift die Geschichte bekannte Motive des dystopischen Jugendromans auf, doch Die rote Königin schafft es, diesen durch psychologische Spannung und ein konsequent aufgebautes Machtgefüge neue Schärfe zu verleihen. Der Roman regt zum Nachdenken über Privilegien, Unterdrückung und die Grauzonen von Gut und Böse an – und bleibt dadurch lange im Gedächtnis. Ich hab das Buch nun nach Jahren wieder gelesen und es gefällt mir genauso sehr wie damals, ich freu mich jetzt schon auf die nächsten Teile.

This is a strong 4.5 star book for me. The writing was great, the story was great. The only thing that really bothered me was that I couldn't really grasp the characters and they didn't all individually stand out like characters in a book should. I see that the reason for this could be that everyone in this world has to lie/keep lines blurry to survive since this is a world ruled by privilege death and power. There's also great potential for the character developments in the next book and the plot twist was a real shocker. I also cried. (Later update: castles crumbling is so cal coded which makes me love this book even more) Here are some quotes I really loved: -The truth is what I make it. I could set this world on fire and call it rain. -You better hide that heart of yours.It won't lead you anywhere you want to go -I am the king and you could've been my Red Queen. -Revolution needs a spark. And even sparks burn. -I will never submit again. I will never stop fighting. -In school, we learned about the world before ours, about the angels and gods that lived in the sky, ruling the earth with kind and loving hands. Some say those are just stories, but I don't believe that. The gods rule us still, they have come down from the stars. And they are no longer kind -I'm red, I'm nothing, and I can still make you fall. -You want me to pin my entire operation, the entire revolution on some teenaged love story? I can't believe this. -Their Silver war is being paid for in Red blood. (And many more, I really really enjoyed the writing as you can see)

3,75/5 ✨ Nicht mein fav, habe leider vor allem kaum Verbindung zu den Charakteren aufgebaut, obwohl die Story an sich echt gut war. Ein bisschen wie sehr sehr viele Storys aber trotzdem spannend! Es gab auch einen Twist, den ich echt 0 hab kommen sehen. Werde die Reihe denk ich weiterlesen aber nicht direkt :) die Ähnlichkeit zu Powerless war so ab Seite 100 quasi gar nicht mehr da, hat mich von den Vibes eher an Shatter Me erinnert? Kann man auf jeden Fall lesen.
