Rezension von ken<i>“I love you,” she said. “I'd follow you to the end of the world. Any world.”</i> If this novella was any shorter, I'd be clamouring to have it extended, but its length was <i>just right</i>. The fantastic aspect of it molded the story while not being the centre of it. Its subtlety was refreshing. Not only does <i>Passing Strange</i> does not try too hard to be genre fiction, but the story's telling is honest and precise and left me a little breathless. Initially, I thought that the Toronto Public Library misclassified the book, since on its spine it says ‘science fiction’. It does have aspects of SF, but barely. Regardless, it doesn't matter because <i>Passing Strange</i> is one of those things that publishing marketers like to call ‘genre-bending’. A beautiful read. Not too short a novella to have one be eager for more (though I am).
