Rezension von NeneReally beautiful written book. The book itself is really deep and just shows all the trauma you gain as a black male just for being "black". Like people see you as nothing more than that. People don't even try to see the fact that you're more than just a "black person". You're a human being, you have emotions, you have your hobbies, you have so much qualities that nobody wants to acknowledge. I would give this book so much more stars but it's just the writing style is kinda something new for me. Like I don't normally go for books like this. And while I was reading I sometimes just read without even reading fr fr. Regardless of that this book itself is beautiful. And I just hope for myself that I see the deeper beauty of it the next time I re-read it !
Rezension von i really felt in love with this gem of a book. especially the characters and the gorgeous almost poetic writing style. took a while to really get into it. loved that it’s kinda slow burn best friends to lovers <3 also really enjoyed the images referring to the title „open water“ and the communication between the two characters felt so open and raw. besides the book talks a lot about the black experience, racism, police violence, black joy. so, so important and i’m really glad it was part of the story. this is the kind of book you really have to take the time for. to make pauses, to let the words resonate and feel the emotions behind them.
