I’m not sure how to rate this book. I had really high expectations because of all the hype and it was tough for the book to live up to them. I did enjoy the overall vibe especially the setting, characters, and magic system, which were all described beautifully. But I did have some issues with the writing style, which made it hard to fully dive into the story at times. The character connections felt a bit shallow, probably because the book is on the shorter side so there wasn’t much room for deeper exploration. I’m still looking forward to the next book and can’t wait to see where it goes!

My first impression after I read twenty pages was : Wow! Wow, to the idea of the Providence Cards that adorn each chapter; Wow, to this wonderful eerie and dark gothic atmosphere throughout the entire book; Wow, to the world building, and the beautiful and captivating writing style of the author. I was immediately intrigued and not able to just read a couple of pages, no. When I wrote the book., I had to dive into 50 pages minimum. I loved Elspeth from the first moment I read about her, as much as the Nightmare creature. I loved Ravyn, his mysterious and secretive air, and his endeavor to use his powers for a greater cause. All together, this book is my first highlight of the year! Everything was amazing: the plot, the MCs, the atmosphere, the depth of the entire idea and the characters. I so, so love it, it’s brilliant! This, it’s a new #favourite and I rate it with the category *to DI(E)VE for*! If you haven’t already read this book then you must read this now!

"Nothing is free. Nothing is safe. Magic is love, but also, it's hate. It comes at a cost. You're found and you're lost. Magic is love, but also, it's hate." Elspeth Spindle lebt in Blunder. An alle Fantasy-Fans: LEST DIESES BUCH!!!

this book is unlike any other - even though in the beginning it was hard to grasp, as of the moment the mist lifts and you understand all of it more and more there‘s no way out of the story. didn‘t expect this book to have such an effect on me, but i‘m lying here shattered into a million pieces and i pray the second one will put me back together. .
