Though I am still young and Menopause has yet to show its signs i abolutly loved this. I feel we as woman kind of know what to expect but that mixed with societies expectations of us is a true horror show. Well done Nat Cassidy

I didn't read horror books for a while, but in the spooky season I wanted something creepy. I found this book in one of Jordaline Reads youtube videos. She introduces horror books very nicely, and in detail but without spoilers. I liked this one the most, and I was curious about the mystery behind this story. I couldn't introduce it as well as she does, but I try to write an interesting review... with spoilers. It is very hard for me to write about this book without spoilers. I found the main story and the truth very boring and kind of childish. I only liked this book till I didn't know what is really going on. When everything was creepy, strange and unknown, but when ghosts, and furies came into the story, and especially ghosts who obviously don't hurt Mary... It felt like a disappointment. Honestly I lost interest very soon, and it was very hard to go on. ----Spoilers---- So basically there is a town, where Mary was born, where there is a sect, who worships Damon Cross, a serial killer, who let them believe, that he kills with a higher purpose, and those women taking everybodies sins in the grave with themselves. It is kind of creepy, I like stories about sects, and I find it amusing how a person can manipulate many others, even to make them do horrible things. But basically that is the most interesting part. Obviously Mary doesn't know anything about those people, only that they are weird and have the same eye tattoo. And obviuosly Mary goes back to her hometown to care of her aunt, who raised her after a fire killed her parents. She has these weird feelings and starts to investigate. She can not watch in the mirror, she sees herself decompose and distorted. She sees ghosts. The victims of Damon Cross. Later we find out that they are not just the victims of Damon but all of the town people. Annnnnd..... we also find out, that Damon Cross kind of reborn in Mary. So some reincarnation shit. Basically Mary gets involved with the ghost, and together they make a huge massacre, and the gosts or furies kill everyone in the sect, so yeah. That is it. I didn't find it as amusing. I only give this book 3 stars, because of the beginning, and how creepy it was at first. Maybe the problem is with me... In the past, I've read too much horror books, and maybe my limit is a little bit higher, so I need extra scary shit, to make me really shiver.
