Rezension von Jessi.x.eveIce Planet Barbarians war für mich genau das Buch, von dem man immer hört: „Lies es, wenn nichts mehr geht. Das holt dich aus jeder Leseflaute.“ Und ja, ich kann das jetzt absolut bestätigen. Ich habe das Buch vor allem gelesen, um komplett abzuschalten, ohne zu analysieren oder kritisch zu hinterfragen und genau dafür war es perfekt. Natürlich ist die Prämisse ziemlich wild: blaue Aliens, fremde Planeten, eine sehr körperliche Romance. Ich bin mit der Erwartung rangegangen, dass es etwas trashig und over the top wird, aber irgendwie hat es einfach funktioniert. Mehr noch: Ich konnte das Buch kaum aus der Hand legen. Die Geschichte wird abwechselnd aus der Sicht von Georgie und Vektal erzählt, und genau diese Dynamik hat für mich unglaublich gut funktioniert. Beide Protagonisten sind überraschend liebenswert, nahbar und sympathisch, sodass man sehr schnell emotional investiert ist. Der Schreibstil ist frisch, locker und leicht zu lesen. Obwohl die Kapitel recht lang sind, hat mich das überhaupt nicht gestört. Im Gegenteil, ich bin regelrecht durch die Seiten geflogen. Besonders spannend fand ich die anfängliche Sprachbarriere zwischen den beiden und die Art, wie damit umgegangen wird. Das hat der Geschichte eine zusätzliche Ebene gegeben und war für mich ein echtes Highlight. Das Worldbuilding ist einfacher, als man es vielleicht aus klassischer Fantasy kennt, und wenn man zu tief darüber nachdenkt, merkt man schon, dass viele Dinge vor allem dazu dienen, die Handlung voranzutreiben. Aber genau das ist hier auch völlig okay. Das Buch will nicht komplex sein, es will unterhalten, fesseln und Spaß machen. Und das tut es hervorragend. Ice Planet Barbarians ist spicy, ein bisschen trashig, sehr unterhaltsam und überraschend herzig. Für mich war es das perfekte Buch zum Abschalten, zum „Gehirn aus“-Lesen und um einfach mal wieder richtig Lesespaß zu haben. Ich kann es jedem empfehlen, der Smut liest, gerade in einer Leseflaute steckt oder einfach Lust auf etwas völlig anderes hat. Und ja, ich werde die Reihe definitiv weiterverfolgen.
