⭐️ 4.25 stars. This was exactly the rom-com I needed. I went into this thinking it would be a cute, light read, but it actually surprised me with how much I enjoyed it. It is easy to read and very bingeable, but there is also more emotional depth than I expected. Sadie was such an interesting main character. She is the kind of person who is always trying to be nice, always trying to please everyone, and constantly repressing what she actually feels. Because of that, all the angry emails she writes and never intends to send feel like the only place where she allows herself to be honest. In a strange way, they become an outlet for everything she keeps bottled up. That part of the story felt very real to me. Being a people pleaser is exhausting. You try to keep everyone happy, but in the process you slowly start carrying the weight of everyone’s expectations. It becomes overwhelming, and I liked that the book acknowledged how damaging that can be. Watching Sadie slowly confront that side of herself and grow from it was one of the most interesting parts of the story. And then there is Julius. I loved him. The way he sees Sadie, the way he understands parts of her that other people overlook, and the quiet way he shows he cares made their dynamic so compelling. Their relationship is messy in the best way. The feelings between them are intense, confusing, and sometimes hard for Sadie to understand. At times she convinces herself that what she feels is hate, when in reality it is something much more complicated. That made the romance feel very believable. Falling in love is not always clean or simple. Sometimes the emotions are overwhelming, and you do not even realize what you are feeling until it is already there. I also liked that even though the story is told from Sadie’s perspective, you can still sense that Julius has his own insecurities and fears. It felt like he also needed to be chosen, not just understood. Even without his point of view, those layers were there. The banter, the rivalry, the tension, and the chemistry between them made this such a fun read. It was cute, a little angsty, and full of those small moments that make you root for the characters. And yes, I even cried at the end from how cute it was. This book honestly feels like the kind of love story that would make a perfect rom-com movie. It has that same cozy, emotional energy that makes you smile while you are reading. I flew through it and had such a good time.
