This is the kind of thriller that keeps you guessing the entire time. I was constantly changing my mind about who the killer was, and of course, the one person I never suspected ended up being the one responsible, wild. That said, there were a few things that didn’t fully add up for me. The ending, in particular, felt confusing. It seemed like Anna believed she was the one who did it, yet it was actually her mother? That disconnect didn’t quite make sense. Also, if her mother was as physically unwell as described, it’s hard to believe she could have pulled off everything she did. Anna and Jack getting back together also felt off. Their daughter’s death was enough to completely tear them apart, but by the end, they’re suddenly back together like a happy family? It just didn’t feel earned. Overall, while the book was definitely gripping and kept me hooked, there were several moments that felt unrealistic or hard to fully believe.
amazing! my first Alice book!
This book has been on my tbr for quite a while. I have read several books by Alice Feeney and enjoyed them. Since the show is now out, I figured I had better read this before I watched. There has been a murder in her hometown, so journalist Anna is first on the scene to report. Told in three different perspectives, we witness more murders, twists, and flashbacks of the past. I went back and forth, thinking I had it figured out. Ultimately, one of my two guesses was correct! This is a good one that had me turning pages. I'm looking forward to watching it now!
