Rezension von HanninanniBeautiful book, while at times confusing but endearing story line through the characters. Kang’s works have a certain melancholia to them which consumes the reader and dives deep into human emotion and story telling.
Rezension von EileenIch weiß nicht…das Buch ist eigentlich sehr poetisch geschrieben, aber doch konnte ich nicht besonders gut mit den Charakteren mitfühlen. Wahrscheinlich liegt es daran, dass ich es doch auf deutsch und nicht auf englisch hätte lesen sollen. In der eigenen Muttersprache spricht Poesie einfach anders mit einem.
Rezension von Peanut“Greek Lessons” war ein sehr leises Buch. Es hat sich angefühlt, als würde man immer wieder nur kurz bei einer Geschichte zuhören. Die Erzählung ist stark fragmentarisch, poetisch, introspektiv und auch philosophisch. Das große Thema dieser Sammlung an Handlungssträngen ist aber die Kommunikation und die Wahrnehmung. Kang vermittelt auf schöne, unaufdringliche Weise, wie wichtig beide sind. Man merkt, wie viele Dinge falsch aufgenommen, interpretiert und sogar unausgesprochen bleiben. Natürlich dreht sich vieles um die griechische Sprache, aber auch um das Gefühl, in einem fremden Land zu sein und seine Muttersprache nicht sprechen zu können. Mit dem Stil konnte ich leider nicht so viel anfangen, und das Buch hat mich teilweise etwas gelangweilt - dafür hat es mich aber gut zum Nachdenken angeregt.
Rezension von Liana poetisch und atmosphärisch Ein schwermütiges Buch. Im Zentrum stehen zwei Personen, eine Frau die ihre Sprache verloren hat und ein erblindeter Mann. Themen wie Einsamkeit, Herzschmerz, Trauer und die heilende Kraft von Worten ziehen sich durch das Buch. Eine Liebesgeschichte die dezent und leise ist und auf der anderen Seite voller Tiefe und kräftigen Gefühlen.
Rezension von laurenalesemausdieses buch ist so wunderschön geschrieben.. ich liebe die art, wie die autorin die bedeutung von sprache, einsamkeit und übermenschlicher verbindung dargestellt hat und jeder satz hat sich angefühlt wie ein eigenes gedicht in sich. das buch zeigt, wie man auch ohne worte und blicke fühlen kann und wie es sich anfühlt, zu leben. ich will wegen dem buch altgriechisch lernen, fand die sprache immer schon faszinierend aber durch den kontext noch mehr!! ~ You said, This thing we call life mustn’t ever become something endured.
