4.9 me while reading this book I cannot stress enough, that this is a must read after [b:Dune|39776179|Dune (Dune #1)|Frank Herbert|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1620503959l/39776179._SY75_.jpg|3634639] (thereby agreeing with countless other people :o), as it perfectly, absolutely magnificently, concludes the story arc introduced in the first book. The consequences of [b:Dune|39776179|Dune (Dune #1)|Frank Herbert|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1620503959l/39776179._SY75_.jpg|3634639] feed into this story and are brought to their conclusion. I can totally see why George Lucas was inspired by this. Just like with [b:Dune|39776179|Dune (Dune #1)|Frank Herbert|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1620503959l/39776179._SY75_.jpg|3634639], the ending had me sitting upright in my seat, but in addition, I audibly gasped at times. So, I guess job well done, @[a:Frank Herbert|58|Frank Herbert|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1591018335p2/58.jpg]? Well, mostly I guess. My only gripe is that the first half was not as enjoyable on its own, and will benefit sooo much of a reread. Much that was hinted at becomes clear in the second half, but my reading style (not quite ready to speculate) and the writing (hiding information while still talking around it) clashed a bit. Excited to see where the story goes next!

I enjoyed reading "Dune Messiah." It takes place twelve years after the events of the first book and follows the transformation of Paul, who has become the emperor. He has matured significantly and is almost unrecognizable compared to his previous self. This sequel completely shifts the tone set in the first book and delves into profound discussions about religion, laws, and the burdens that come with wielding power. The book explores these themes in a captivating manner, drawing the reader into a world of political intrigue. The ending of the book took me by complete surprise and left me feeling shocked. The intricate plotting and the way the story unfolded kept me engaged from start to finish. I can't wait to continue with the series.

I do love the women Frank Herbert created, but he could have done way more with them! Still my opinion is Dune is a YA scifi romance :D Paul is so whipped for Chani!
