Rezension von Armin“»(…) Schwanger zu sein ist nicht so märchenhaft, wie du denkst.« (…) Cis Frauen beklagen sich immer über die Last ihrer Fortpflanzungsfähigkeit, die sie insgeheim auskosten, Hysterektomien bekommt man an jeder Ecke, aber dafür stehen nicht mal Frauen, die keine Kinder wollen, Schlange.” (S.316) Zwei trans Frauen trennen sich nach jahrelanger Beziehung. Amy hielt es für richtig eine Detransition durchzuführen und deswegen zerbrach auch die lesbische Paarbeziehung zwischen Amy und Reese. Ames schwängert nach 3 Jahren seine neue Flamme, die eigene Chefin namens Katrina. Das kam unerwartet, denn Ames Detransition liegt lange zurück und ist theortisch zeugungsunfähig. Er hat aber einen Plan: er will das Kind zu dritt groß ziehen. Für ihn ist die Vaterrolle unvorstellbar, aber er wollte schon immer eine Familie mit Reese haben. Er wagt es das typische Familienmodell aufzubrechen und fragt seine Ex-Freundin, ob sie nicht Teil dieser Familie sein möchte. Sie wagen sich alle drei dieses Experiment und merken später, welche Hürden die Idee mitsichbringt und die eigenen Bürden bringt die Beziehung zu dritt auch noch ins Wanken. Die ersten Seiten im Buch sind schon sehr klar formuliert und spricht wahrscheinlich eine gezielte Gruppe an. Ihr Debütroman ‘Detransition, Baby’ übersetzt von Nicole Seifert und Frank Sievers versucht Torrey Perers sich an eine nicht der Norm entsprechende Familiengeschichte zu wagen. Das Buch könnte auch eine eigene Serie habe , was auch tatsächlich in Absprache ist. Denn es fühlte sich Kapitel für Kapitel so an, als begleite man die Figuren bei der eigenen Entwicklung. Wie ich finde, ist es eine sehr emotionale Geschichte, auch wenn die eher mit einem anderen Ton geschrieben wurde. Reese war schon vor Ames eine trans Frau und begleitete James Transition zur Amy. Und schon da sorgte sich Reese, wie eine Mutter um Amy. Ames hielt es nicht mehr aus als Frau zu leben und erwähnt am Rande kurz die Gründe: “(…) dass ich auf der Straße zusammengeschlagen worden bin und mir niemand geholfen hat.(…) Danach fand ich es einfach Scheiße nochmal zu hart, als trans Frau zu leben.”(s.137) Für Reese war der Wunsch eine eigene Familie zu haben sehr groß, und eine Mutter zu sein, würde ihr mehr helfen die Akzeptanz, die sie sich von der Gesellschaft wünscht als Frau gesehen zu werden, näher zu bringen. Ames Vorschlag - ein Kind groß zu ziehen, auch wenn es der Familiennorm abweicht - konnte Reese nicht ablehnen. Torrey Peters schreibt hart. Tatsächlich sind sehr viele Triggers wie Trans- und Queerfeindlichkeit, Mutterschaft, Suizd, sexuelle Gewalt enthalten. Also nichts für schwache Nerven. Dennoch finde ich, dass das Buch viele Themen versucht kurz und knapp zu erzählen, auch wenn nur am Rande, als gelungen. Schwierig wird es natürlich, wenn das Buch alles behandeln will, aber nur an der Oberflächle kratzt. Auf jeden Fall sollte man es gelesen haben, weil ich las es sehr gerne, aber war kein Highlight für mich. “ »Wenn du einen männlichen Mann willst«, belehrt Iris sie, »dann such dir einen trans Mann. Das sind die Einzigen, bei denen du sicher sein kannst, dass sie wirklich so sein wollen und nicht nur irgendwas kompensieren.« “ (s.308)
