First of all, a lot of things are misleading about this book. The cover, the title, the blurb, and the tag is only really true in relation to the book itself: what you see isn’t always what you get. It’s more a story about family, mental health, friendship, the importance of therapy. That and don’t believe the Goodreads shelves, this isn’t lgbt other than the author being a wlw. - - - I’m not sure how I feel about the book as a whole, no star rating really feels right but I guess it’d be like 3.25/5? I enjoyed it, thought the themes were important, thought it was a bit dated and generally thought it would have done me more good if I’d actually read it closer to (or even before) I purchased it. I just don’t particularly have any strong feelings towards it either way.
