Rezension von Rebekka BarthParts 1 and 2 of the Clown in a Cornfield series were both 5-star reads for me — I absolutely loved them. I also loved The Church of Frendo, but I’m giving it one less star this time. Overall, I thought the story was (again) really well done, and once again, it delivered on the brutal violence the series is known for. However, I felt it lacked the same level of suspense as its predecessors. They had an “edge-of-your-seat” suspense that I really missed in this one. Additionally, I also missed some of the characters from the earlier books. For example, I would’ve loved to see more of the friendship between Quinn, Cole, and Rust. There were, however, a few new characters, some of whom you could really root for (especially Johnny D, who was a lovable addition to the cast), while others you could utterly despise. So, in that sense, it’s back to business as usual.
