Joan Goodwin has been obsessed with the stars for as long as she can remember. Thoughtful and reserved, Joan is content with her life as a professor of physics and astronomy at Rice University and as aunt to her precocious niece, Frances. Rezension von Caro💭 M E I N U N G Ich habe das Buch in Originalsprache (Englisch) gelesen und durch die vielen Fachbegriffe anfangs viel nachschlagen müssen, wodurch ich mich zunächst schwer eingefunden habe. Aaaaber als ich dann soweit war, dass ich die Zusammenhänge der unterschiedlichen Zeiten, Personen und Begriffe verstanden habe, war ich im Sog und habe das Buch kaum zur Seite legen können. Der Schreibstil der Autorin ist toll, von Anfang an ist eine gewisse Spannung da, die, aufgrund der unterschiedlichen Zeitebenen, bis zum Ende bleibt. Die Figuren sind feingezeichnet und nahbar, ihre Entwicklungen sind nachvollziehbar und man fühlt mit ihnen mit. 💔 Während des Lesens herrschte bei mir wirklich ein Gefühlschaos, denn nicht nur die Liebesgeschichte von Joan & Vanessa hat mich berührt, sondern auch die zu ihrer Nichte ✨ Und auch wenn ich wenig Ahnung vom Weltall und Raumfahrt, geschweige denn der NASA habe, waren die Prozesse und Abläufe so gut erklärt, dass ich viel dazulernen durfte und gleichzeitig total mitgefiebert habe. Das Buch, insbesondere Joans Geschichte, hat mich wirklich gepackt und mir gezeigt, wie glücklich ich mich schätzen kann, in der heutigen Zeit zu leben, wo es natürlich auch noch Ungleichheiten gibt, aber diese wesentlich geringer ausfallen. 💭 ⭐️ F A Z I T Eine Geschichte über erste (queere) Liebe & große Träume mit einer starken weiblichen Protagonistin, die dazu aufruft, den eigenen Platz im Universum zu finden 🌏 💫 Und auch wenn ich selbst eigentlich kaum noch Romance-Geschichten lese, war das für mich ein ganz großes Highlight und ich gebe die vollen 5 ⭐️ ! Eine absolute Leseempfehlung für jedes Alter! Ich möchte auf jeden Fall noch mehr Bücher von TJR lesen! 🙌
Rezension von LottiWooow. So ein schönes und trauriges Buch. Das Ende hat mich fast zerrissen und ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass man bestimmte Charaktere (Barbara) so sehr hassen kann.
Rezension von JaninaIt took me some time to get into it but then I fell completely - just like Joan :) really liked her story, the one about her job and the way she sees the universe and what she does to achieve her dream, but also the one about her private life as the most loving aunt, critical sister and unconditional lover. Would absolutely recommend

Rezension von Monique MHighest recommendation. I didn’t even read the blurb before picking up the book—I kept seeing it everywhere on BookTok and Bookstagram and decided to trust the hype. I went in with very little knowledge of the plot, and needless to say, I was completely blown away by the depth of the story, its characters, and the love story that unfolds throughout. I absolutely loved how many different dimensions the book explores—space travel, feminist themes, character development, coming out, and family dynamics. There are so many layers, yet they come together beautifully. The suspense created by the mission, especially through the “future” chapters, adds another level of tension and makes the story even more heartbreaking. I honestly wouldn’t change a thing about this book. A must-read, in my opinion!
