20th Century Maurice

von E M Forster

Format:Softcover

Completed in 1914, this novel is a condemnation of the repressive attitudes of British society and a plea for emotional and sexual honesty. Aware that its publication would cause a furore, Forster ensured that it did not appear until after his death in 1970.

2,5⭐ It was interesting to read about the tumultious and dramstic life of Maurice but sadly I didn't enjoy E.M. Forsters writing style. I was just not vibing with the choice of vocabulary eventough I think it was just how people spoke in england back than, it still was annoying to me. It was also often hard to distinguish who says what bc the characters kept interrupting each other. I'm glad it endet on a good note. I ALWAYS appreciate a happy ending. It absolutely could end in tragedy with the betrayal, scorn and selfhate Maurice had to deal with.
