coole Dystopie, aber die Love Story war nicht 100% überzeugend

JanahnkRezension von Janahnk

Short and honest: this book did absolutely nothing for me. My sister-in-law and I were so excited to read this, but the disappointment hit hard. She DNF’d at around 65%, and I painfully pushed through to the end, hoping I’d finally understand the hype and all those glowing reviews… spoiler alert: I didn’t. The whole book felt boring, predictable, and honestly kind of nonsensical. ⚠️ Spoilers ahead ⚠️ Everything was way too easy. No tension. No stakes. No emotions — unless you count my growing frustration with the story. It felt like the author was just ticking off tropes instead of letting anything develop naturally. The romance? Completely unbelievable. The attraction made zero sense to me. And some of the spice scenes were so uncomfortable to read (I’m looking at you: “You can do it, little bird”) that I genuinely didn’t know whether to laugh or cringe myself into another dimension. None of the characters made me feel anything. I didn’t root for them, didn’t care about them, didn’t connect with them — at all. By the end, I was just angry, and it probably won’t surprise anyone that I won’t be continuing this series. I’m truly happy for everyone who loved this book — but this one was not for me.
